This charming, detached family home in the heart of Surrey hides an impressive, big secret that’s completely invisible from the front of the property: a magnificent 12-metre, extra wide rear extension, completed in February 2022.
Impressively, they designed their new space-for-living entirely themselves, and Home Republic were happy to ensure that the end result was exactly what they required. Here, our mantra, «Dreams Construct Reality» could never have been more accurate.
Working with an overall team of 8 construction and trades specialists, we planned and completed this project within five months, whilst taking all the then-current constraints surrounding Covid-19 into careful consideration.

Our Remit
Working on the «don’t move, improve» principle (incredibly wise, we think), our clients wanted to think big. In fact, very big. This family needed more room downstairs, and was keen to embrace the absolute best that the high-standards in construction that Home Republic were able to offer them.
The solution?
An extension, of course. But — what an extension.
Above, you can see the original shape and width of the house, as well as its luxurious new space on the ground floor — much wider than the original property, but totally in keeping.
What We Did
The team constructed an extra-wide, wraparound, L-shaped, 12-metre extension to create a space that «flowed». Full of natural daylight from newly constructed roof lighting , this open plan space is now striking, beautiful, yet also tremendously practical.
Home Republic refurbished the ground floor throughout, building a new kitchen, utility room and living room, as well as extra living space. Internal Crittal doors (bespoke, steel doors) to the garden offer a sleek, contemporary look and feel. They’re also a clever link between the inside and outside.
The concrete tiles we used in the living area again provide a seamless link between indoors and outdoors. As you can see, the sizeable patio leads to a large garden, offering plenty of room for entertaining and relaxing.
Working in close pro-active collaboration with our client, we had excellent rapport and effective communication with them from start to finish. This was, and is, important to us as it delivers the best results.
Home Republic took extra care to be as proactive as possible, and that every key decision was taken jointly. Equally, we planned and scheduled with the utmost care and attention for a deadline-focused project delivery.
