This Thames Ditton residence called for a carefully orchestrated transformation — one that respected the story of the original house while subtly rewriting it for modern family life. Our approach went beyond a typical refurbishment; it involved uncovering and understanding the property’s architectural language, then extending it with authenticity and restraint. Every decision was guided by a desire to restore and elevate traditional details, ensuring that new interventions felt as though they had always belonged. The brief centred on creating elegant, enduring interiors with improved functionality, stronger visual and physical connections to the garden, and a consistent thread of bespoke craftsmanship throughout. Externally, the ambition was to craft a refined entertaining setting that felt seamlessly rooted in the home’s heritage.
What We Did
Home Republic delivered a full refurbishment alongside a 1000 ft² extension and extensive landscaping works over a meticulously managed 40-week programme — completed ahead of schedule through rigorous planning and hands-on project leadership. The works encompassed structural reconfiguration, the revival and reinstatement of traditional architectural features, bespoke joinery crafted with exceptional attention to detail, new and enhanced bathrooms, decorative finishes, and the installation of parquet flooring laid using time-honoured techniques. The extension was designed not as an addition, but as a continuation of the home’s history — executed in a refined period style and paired with a bespoke glazed canopy that delicately mediates between house and garden. Throughout the build, our team demonstrated extraordinary craftsmanship, from carefully matching profiles and mouldings to hand-finishing surfaces that celebrate material authenticity. Every element was considered, measured, and executed with precision, ensuring a cohesive dialogue between past and present.
