Our Remit

This stunning huge 6-bedroom Victorian house on one of East Putney’s prime streets has had a complete architectural redesign in line with modern-day living. Home Republic’s brief was to extend at all levels, flood the house with natural light and create liveable spaces for a large family’s needs.

What We Did

From the top, a number of skylights were positioned in the roofline where shards of light now bathe the bedrooms, hallways and bathrooms. The hand-crafted vanity units and bespoke wardrobes are also a joy, with yards of open hanging space, drawers and push-to open mechanisms. Downstairs, the full width family kitchen & snug are in pole position at the centre of the house. This huge space has full-width traditional rear doors leading into permeable stone patio to preserve old magnolia tree. Oak timber floors and wrap-around kitchen paired with seamless, bespoke spray-painted units. The playroom has curved-glass structural see-through roof screen which floods light down. This impressive relax room has loads of original traditional veiling features and luxurious sofas surrounded by SONOS for ideal film watching. This stylish colourful family home works on every level and is a joy to live in and behold.

Outbuilding in the newly landscaped garden provides independent kids playing facility with separate space-saving ensuite and fabulous green-roof with the separate access.

The Result

Review from Alice & Trevor:

" Exceptional builders who pride themselves on achieving their clients’ aims efficiently and without compromise. Our mission was to make our Victorian house as sustainable as possible while staying faithful to its aesthetics and Alex, Max and colleagues at Home Republic did their utmost to accomplish this. Professional, considerate and extremely hard-working, they kept up the momentum at every stage of the project, taking care to liaise with us whenever necessary, maintaining a can-do approach and often mocking up alternative options to facilitate decisions. They managed almost all jobs in house or through associates, notably the outstanding electricians and an excellent bespoke joiner. Their clear pricing and organised project administration were very welcome, as was their responsiveness to problems, and patience when we could not answer queries. Above all they were polite, friendly and a delight to deal with."
