Our Remit
Home Republic was commissioned to carry out a full renovation and extension of asemi-detached period home in Dulwich Village, South London. The brief was toexpand the kitchen and dining area while modernizing the home to suit the needs ofa creative family, all while preserving the property’s original character. The goal wasto create a space that blends modern technology with art deco design, ensuring aseamless transition between indoor and outdoor areas. This included reconfiguringthe ground and first floors to improve functionality and maximize natural light.
What We Did
We extended the rear of the property to create a larger, open-plan kitchen and diningarea, incorporating smart underfloor heating and a modern kitchen island ideal forfamily gatherings. The dining area, framed by Crittall-style doors, offers stunningviews of the garden, almost like a living art installation. At the front of the house, weenhanced the traditional mosaic pathway and carried its design through to thehallway. The first floor was redesigned to reposition the bedroom for better gardenviews, and we added a luxurious, full-size bathroom featuring a bespoke bath, walk-in shower, and stylish Crittall-style doors. The project also included a new rear patioand a raised path leading to a summer house, now used as a writing studio.
The Result
The renovation transformed the home into a modern, functional space whilepreserving its period charm. Terry and Mark, the homeowners, were thrilled with theoutcome, noting that Home Republic’s calm approach and clear communicationmade the process smooth. They appreciated the meticulous attention to detail,especially in the kitchen design and the flawless integration of modern technology.Despite the challenges of the pandemic, the project was completed on time, with allmajor structural changes completed to the highest standards. The couple nowenjoys a beautifully renovated home that is the envy of their friends, and they highlyrecommend Home Republic for future projects.
