This south London renovation and extension project is a stunning addition to home republic portfolio. With stylish decor to match the simplicity of the build, the final product is an art deco house with the modern & technological kitchen extension befitting for a creative London family.

Rear extension to a semi-detached period home in Dulwich village provided space for a larger kitchen and bright airy diner. The finished design and interior specifications were flawless, with wet underfloor heating with a smart control system and a new kitchen with the island perfect for cooking and entertaining friends and family.

The 2-side-view dining area has direct access onto the rear patio through Crittall-style doors. Not only do they bring more light inside, but the black outline of the glass creates a picture-perfect frame for the external space, almost making it seem like an art installation within the home. It is a beautiful choice for the house, where the bold green colours of the garden contrast to beautiful flowers and plants.

Rear patio, laid with the similar weather-resistant tiles as the kitchen itself, transforms into a raised path leading to a summer house at the back of the garden, which is used as a writing studio.

At the front, the traditional mosaic pathway passes the main entrance door finished in a traditional style and seamlessly follows through the hallway into the living area.

Ground floor reconfiguration breathed new life into the sitting and living rooms finished in an original style by enhancing authentic features and adding a timeless character.

Redesign of the 1st floor flooded the staircase with sunlight by addition of the new roof window over the 1st floor landing. Working closely with drawings, levels and actual dispositions of walls, Home Republic team overcame the lack of space by reposition the bedroom to face the garden and adding a full-size state of the art bathroom with the bespoke bath, traditional metro tiles and walk-in shower with the recessed shelves, black gear and matching crittall-style doors.

This project was beautifully designed with stand-out features. House benefits from some fabulous materials like superb designers’ kitchen from our international partners Rimluva full of modern technology. This kitchen is also a great testament to how your space can be elegant and functional. The vast amounts of bespoke surface tops crafted from corian to eliminate any joints and form sink & upstands, make it perfect for busy families, with plenty of space when cooking or working in the kitchen.

It was a joy throughout to be a part of this great project. We received a superb attitude from our clients and responded back with loads of love and care to finishing details.

Terry & Marksay:

This was a big job – renovating a Victorian house -absolutely everything needed overhauling. There were major structural changes and at one point the house was almost a shell. Now we are living in a beautiful home that is the envy of our friends. When I met Alex from Home Republic the thing I liked most about him and his team was their calm demeanour and attitude that anything was possible. Financially, everything was set out very clearly and I always knew what the cost was; any extra additions had to be approved, and these were also clearly costed. If there was something I did not agree with or felt could be improved upon, I felt able to bring it up comfortably and there was always room for discussion. The project manager I was assigned, Oleh, was something of a superstar. He is a perfectionist. I’ll admit, I’m particular, so there were sometimes small niggles on both sides, especially with a job this big. That said, we were always able to work things out very satisfactorily. The finishing and attention to detail were superb, and the electrical and gas plan fittings, which were massive, have been completed to the highest standards. We ended up adding on the front drive and a cabin at the back of the house. The other thing I would say is that the project was completed in good time. I have had friends whose building work seems to go on and on, while ours was completed between February and July during the pandemic. I have and will continue to highly recommend Home Republic.
